2 Examples of Breaking Through Communications Clutter

Jim Palmer, CEO of the National Association of Wheat Growers, once told me:

“Steve, make it short, sweet and easy to repeat.”

Here are two great illustrations of Jim’s advice:

Daniel Pink shared this via Twitter:

Before taking off on a recent flight, the flight attendant announced:

“Did anyone loose this?” Everyone on the plane looked up. There stood the flight attendants with seat belts ... and with smiles all around, they promptly started the safety flight demo.

Notice that both examples grab your attention and follow Jim’s “short, sweet and easy to repeat” advice.

Now, look at your association’s messages and communications ... are they short, sweet and easy to repeat?  Do they grab the attention of your members/target audiences?

If not, what are you doing to rework them?
