This week, we're focusing on tips for Facebook and/or LinkedIn

Tip #16: Members Promote Value
Shared by Betsy Wintringer, Association Management Center
A great campaign to connect with members: especially at your membership booth. The value lies in the peer to peer messaging that was then re-purposed and used on Facebook, web home page, and in membership materials. You could also borrow the “My 3 Words” format used on ABC’s Good Morning America show.

Tip #17: Fearing Facebook
From Greg Schultz, The Sherwood Group
A great campaign to connect with members: especially at your membership booth. The value lies in the peer to peer messaging that was then re-purposed and used on Facebook, web home page, and in membership materials.

Tip #18: Facebook for Certification
Shared by Jeannie Sheehy, The Bostrom Corporation
The Tile Roofing Institute uses for certified installer discussion; to promote renewal and upcoming programs and to conduct Q&A with the trainers.

Tip #19: Industry Group vs LinkedIn
From Hugh Whaley, AMR Management Services
Don’t create a client-named LinkedIn group for members only. Instead make the LinkedIn group accessible to members and non-members by creating a forum for industry discussion rather than just association business.

Tip #20: Building Community Thru Opportunity
Shared by Brian Riggs, Association Headquarters
LinkedIn is best used for important information like job openings and industry discussions. As Hugh noted, you need to determine whether your association gets more value from a “closed” members-only group or an “open” group for anyone interested or engaged in the profession or industry.
